Magical Kids – Dollops of Sunshine

Just when I was about to catch a luminous firefly in my dreams,
my mother woke me up. With half open eyes and my teddy bear cuddled around me I sat on my bed and looked at my mother’s beaming and beautiful face. With ecstasy and joy, I took out my sketch book. I got a small bag of colors, to paint my huts and nuts and then I found my yellow color missing, I looked at the window, and the golden armored Sun with dazzling rays was giggling at me.
With a frown I complained to my mother that the Sun took away my yellow crayon and spread it all around him, she ran her fingers through my hair with utmost affection and explained, no my child that glowing star is just playing games with you. He is so bright and hot that every other creature in the sky averts its eyes from him; they get scared so they stay away from him. And the poor glowing star is all alone and sad in this gigantic firmament. He wants to be your friend that’s why he is playing tricks.
I listened to my mother carefully and then I found my orange and red missing too. Surely the sun has hid my colors behind him. I stared at him for a while, and then waited for my playful evening. At night I saw the twinkling march past of stars, they were wearing beautiful silver costumes with a musical band of clouds and behind the shining veil my Uncle Moon the czar of night sky was peeping out. He looked at me and passed a smile. With a sad visage I explained my story and requested him to be my partner in game. Uncle moon whispered a secret in my ears, “To evolve, you must involve” and gifted me his dark clouds, I filled them in my blue crayons to start the game in the morning.
Next morning, I got ready, and honored myself like a warrior kid in the mirror with deep
blue crayon as my sword. I looked out of the window and started coloring rain sodden clouds over the Sun, and with a sudden gust of wind his brightness faded a little, and he started feeling cold. With a mow down kind of feeling the Sun bent his head and started looking dauntingly at me. I smiled at him and offered him all my colors and finally we became friends.
I painted the old clouds white, with green, pink, purple, and yellow I drew some birds in the sky; they started humming the most pleasant of all songs. I drew a few butterflies and some dragonflies; they started dancing to the tunes. I sketched some kites that started swaying in the brights. I collected a bunch of colors and painted a prismy rainbow.
The glowing starry Sun and I are now best friends. We played together, had fun, we teased
each other and laughed together. We started feeling spring in our heads. Hours passed, evening arrived, and we both got tired. Then Sun told me it’s time for him to leave. Though I never wanted it but I let him go with a condition of another new game tomorrow.
I was very happy to have Sun as my new friend. I looked up in the sky and noticed the fading trails of sunrays as he crossed the sky and went to another direction towards his home and I started moving towards mine. My mother hugged me and I shared my fun with her. While sitting on the window I heard the march past again. Uncle moon looked at me and winked, which reminded me of the secret he shared last night. And now I completely understood the secret.
“To be a friend to somebody you must possess optimism of discovering goodness in
everything. Friendship is to share your joys, to multiply others happiness and lessen their sorrows. Friendship is to find beauty in every creation of nature. To emerge as a good human being and a pure soul”. I closed my eyes and my heart was happy which brought a smile to my lips. I felt my mother’s soft touch caressing my cheeks which took me to surprise and I instantly opened my eyes, just to realize that it was everything but a DREAM.
“When God shaped a child it was considered as his one grand, delicately dazzling and impeccable creation. Nature’s intriguing magic, Mother’s diligently handcrafted beauty, a father’s joy and pride”.
I stepped into this alluring world with a twinkle in my eyes. Cradled in my mother’s hands like a treasure I saw the shining universe, and then crawled to the earth with an innate desire to fly and touch the clouds. Baffled, I closed my eyes and saw doodles of colors swaying in front of me like fireflies in the sky. I see the colorful butterflies swinging in the air, and impelling me to plume my wings to fly high. I met other kids just like me and became friends. We all dance and laugh in the rains with dear mud as our earthy companion.
My joyous smile is my mother’s affirmation and her intense love is my ultimate possession.
I am always curious to know why moon follows me when I run and how the sweet humming of lullaby makes me sleep. I find beauty in every corner around me which makes me smile. I sing with the birds, I dance with squirrels, I stare at strangers and I move with jingles. I cry when I lose my balloons and I laugh on funny toons. My bedtime stories can never be short; an affectionate hug makes me forget all my worries. I love my chocolates just like I adore my toys. I love the soft breeze of spring and winter sun making me soporific. In nights I collect my stars but always forget the counting. When I am wrapped around my mother’s tender hands I feel protected and heavenly, and I sleep in peace.
‘There is certainly a magic in a child’s smile and innocence in its eyes which compel us to
believe in the purity of its soul. Their heart is full of love for everyone be it human beings, flora or fauna. For them, there are no logics, no excuses, no fear as everything is beyond compare and paradisaical. It’s indeed a true adage that when God wanted to be on Earth he made a child his abode, as a child is free from all the hatred and flaws. Children make you believe in fairytales, because it’s all about beauty, happiness, innocence, love, affection, freedom, magic, music and that’s what Children are.
A kid is like a flower which can germinate anywhere, a high street or a roadside mud yet
remains beautiful in its soul and should be watered with love and care because that’s all they demand, priceless but of extreme value. Just the way morning sunshine brings brightness, happiness, peace, hope, warmth, courage, contentment and ease of mind, kids are also of the same worth. That’s why all the children of Mother Earth are like dollops of sunshine.
